Red Colobus Monkeys

The Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkeys (Piliocolobus kirkii), or ‘Kima Punju’, are among Africa’s rarest primates and are found only on Zanzibar’s main island. Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, established in 2004, protects these monkeys along with other species and the forest’s unique flora.

Jozani Flora and Fauna

There are variety of flora and fauna, including rare medicinal plants, towering mahogany and eucalyptus trees, and natural mangrove reserves. Its wildlife includes the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys, blue Sykes’ monkeys, bush babies, chameleons, and a wide range of bird species.
